Happy Birthday to ME!!!

Its my birthday!!! and i will smile if i want to ...

i have an amazing day...and in my wise old age, i have come to realise, that i have family, friends, and loved ones that care about me, and have helped make my day extra special..so, this year, i will not be making up any lists of events gone by, no crying over spilt milk, loser idiots that missed my boat, friends that betrayed me, and people that irritated my life.. No, this year, I am giving thanks for all the good that i have in my life. All the bad people and things that Allah has removed from my path, cos He alone knows what is good for us, All the wonderful moments that i have been blessed with, All the amazing people that have had the privilege of meeting over the last year (esp. all the bloggers, that started out as strangers, but have now become friends that mean so much).... All the good that I have managed to accomplish (and the rest that i will hopefully still accomplish), The good Health that i have been blessed with, the wisdom that is meant to increase as my years on this earth accumulate, and the lessons of life that i am still, and will continue learning till my last day... For this I am grateful... and happy ... and i will age gracefully.. with a smile on my face!!

Happy Birthday to Ruby

07/07/07

Two important things have taken place today, the seventh of the seventh month, in the seventh year...

The first, was the naming of the new seven wonders of the world, which i have mentioned during the course of the week, ans the second is the Live EArth project, headed up by former Vice-president of USA, Al-Gore... Now, im sure many of you are aware of Mr Gore's efforts in the campaign reagreding global warming, the gentleman in question, even received an Oscar award for his efforts in this regard, for the documentary that he produced.. (and let me just add, that he looked really dashing when he went up on stage to receive the oscar), (i have always taken a liking to Al Gore!!)
Live earth is a 24 hour, 7 continent series of 9 concerts taking place on 7/07/07. It will bring together more than 100 music artists and 2 billion people to trigger a global movement to solve the climate crisis.

AnUnknown band In Antartica and thus far, unknown bans consisting of scientists, engineers and other researchers formed a band, and even the locals i.e. penguins, attended the concert.

In London, the concert was held at the Wembley stadium,In Hamburg:Germany, New York;USA, Rio de Janeiro:Brazil, Sydney: Australia,Shangai:China, Tokyo:Japan and closer to home, at Maropeng, at the cradle of Humankind, (A world heritage site!)

Each concert was opened by a recital of the Seven point pledge, which is as follows:

I PLEDGE:

1.To demand that my country join an international treaty within the next 2 years that cuts global warming pollution by 90% in developed countries and by more than half worldwide in time for the next generation to inherit a healthy earth;

2.To take personal action to help solve the climate crisis by reducing my own CO2 pollution as much as I can and offsetting the rest to become "carbon neutral;"

3.To fight for a moratorium on the construction of any new generating facility that burns coal without the capacity to safely trap and store the CO2;

4.To work for a dramatic increase in the energy efficiency of my home, workplace, school, place of worship, and means of transportation;

5.To fight for laws and policies that expand the use of renewable energy sources and reduce dependence on oil and coal;

6.To plant new trees and to join with others in preserving and protecting forests; and,

7.To buy from businesses and support leaders who share my commitment to solving the climate crisis and building a sustainable, just, and prosperous world for the 21st century.

Update! Finally!!

well, its seems as though I've been firnds with Zee for too long, cos now, I'm becoming as sick-prone as he is... yep, i have conjunctivitis since Monday evening, and to my dismay, have been wearing my glasses *sob. sob sob*.. so, zee, i hope i don't burn myself with hot water soon ... just kidding, you still my on my best friends list *ruby winks at Zee***

okay,so, the much awaited update: Mr gentleman is now upgraded to super-sweet gentleman... i had a really wonderful Sunday (two wknds ago)no details (sorry) but i will mention that we met up at 12 pm, and he only dropped me off at home at 8:30 pm.. we even went to watch Ocean's 13...

and i have seen him at least twice a week since..
Met him yesterday for lunch, and we had "the serious conversation" and for a change, the guy actually wants to know where he stands (which is a def. turn of tables for me) cos, he 'is sure, and serious, and does want to date me , but wants to get married to me) which had me stumped.... i was speechless (which is a shock in itself) and I didn't know what to say, so i tried explaining part of the confusion that I'm feeling right now... and he kinda understands. So, he is going away for the wknd, and next wknd I'm in Durban (blog meet YAY!!) and hopefully, by the time i get back, i will be able have some direction.. The thing is, its not that I'm not interested or anything, but I'm just scared, and holding back because its just so soon, i only know him for about a month now? i think.. and granted that i have seen him often enough, but its a huge thing to decide ain't it?

and then there is another person.. A friend of mine gave him my number and email add... he is from SA but is working/living in London.. which makes it very long distance.. anywayz, been chatting to him for about two months on MSN, and the odd phone call, and then, he suggested that i meet up with his sister, cos he doesn't want to just keep chatting as friends, but wants his sister to "check me out" to see if He if and i will be compatible.. so, i met his sister on Monday (Bilal, that's when you saw me) and she then called him and gave him an update.. but Ive been so busy, and sick, that i haven't really had a chance to chat to him after, to get the details.. all he smsed and said was " my sister said that you are very sweet, and pleasant, but you are quite tiny" ...?? go figure!! and hows that for a strange blind date!! hehehehe

The people's princess

Yesterday, the 1st of July, would have been Princess Diana (princess of Wales) 46th birthday... As tribute to her memory, her sons prince William and Harry, held a concert in her memory at the Wembley Stadium on London... and the crowd was phenomenal. there were 63 000 people present at the concert, and it was broad casted live, to 145 countries around the world. DsTv has a special channel dedicated to Princess Di, which has been airing form Fri, until tom, with documentaries featuring from her childhood up until the horrid day in Paris...

so, as you may have guessed, i watched the concert on TV last night, and i was amazed, at the fact, that even though she passed away ten years ago, the turn-out to the concert bears testament that she was, and always will be, loved for the kind, generous person that she was.. A true Princess!!!
